Thinking of new project

Well as the Olympics have been the highlight of our TV at home I’ve been tinkering the idea of starting a new painting. Not that I don’t like watching the Olympics but on busy freelance days after glaring at a monitor all day I want nothing more than face another monitor. Funny I should say that and here I sit with the laptop writing this little wee entry…

So I was buffing for my nails in the weekend getting ready for a dress up party that I saw a lot of unused nail polish (I had bought them on a bargain frenzy about a year ago in HK) that I had a brain wave. Use nail polish as paint on canvas! I have yet to trial it out, but after a little creative chatter with my bro’s GF I confirmed the idea. Most likely to start Friday, depending on how well research goes for the subject matter (which I won’t reveal as I might change my mind!).

On the work front things are picking up speed, not that they are ever slow anyway, but definitely getting varied in terms of doing a variety of ads, brand and web work. What I’m particularly enjoying at the moment is type in my designs. I’ve been having a sneaky affair with Cronos MM Swash, after I welcomed the new addition to my font collection 3 weeks ago. Absolutely beautiful with a friendly, yet slick and retro look to it. See it used above in my latest advertisement for the Waimakariri Council.
