My shocking design

Getting a double sided A4 brochure done in three hours should technically be a breeze, correct? My last project which was intended as a quick-turn-round spiralled into more of a 360 degree shaky roller-coaster ride. Client contacts me Monday, wanting it print-ready by Wednesday. Sure, it was do-able I said, as long as there was no design element involved and no dramatic changes to concepts – if there was even time for ’ concept’. Project labour: 19 photographs of furniture to be scanned, enhanced to look presentable, plus layout and typing the descriptions of each of the 19 items following a hand-written(scibbled) sheet of paper. Did I mention draw a location map, and recreate a non-existing logo. Project shortcuts: Thank god for my fast brother scanner which candidly scanned 4 photos simultaneously, a very approving client with hardly any changes, an ability to read scribbles, and chronic stress of adrenaline making me a very fast worker. Project outcomes: Took slightly more than three hours, established myself very nicely as a desktop publisher – a very fast one. I cringe – but for all my designer audiences, please don’t hate me : p
